The crown cap is in the upper right corner, and each "lug" is topped with polished hemispheres. Beneath the sapphire crystal is a rough silver dial with Arabic indexes and black-coated gold hands. Unlike the entire dial, which is traditionally rotated 45° clockwise, the small seconds hand between 2 and 4 o'clock is traditionally positioned vertically and decorated with a notch. The case is mounted on a dark brown handmade calfskin strap from Italian manufacture Serapian. A burgundy strap will also be included.
The larger 1921 version of the Historiques American looks much the same. The only difference is the size of the case. Its size is 40 mm and width is 8.06 mm. The larger model is matched with a dark brown Serapian strap and a gold buckle in the shape of a half Maltese cross.
The most luxurious version of the Excellence Platine watch completes the series. Vacheron created the platinum line several years ago to make its most emblematic models even more unique and distinctive by wrapping them in precious platinum. The 40 mm diameter case and dial (corresponding marking at 3 o'clock), the belt clip and even the thread with which it is sewn are all made of this material. Not only the visible elements are made of platinum, not only the indexes, the hands, but also, of course, the movement covered with a sapphire caseback.
This edition will not only be a limited edition of 100 pieces, but it will also be by far the most expensive. You have to pay 52,000 euros. The larger of the gold versions of the watch costs 37,300 euros, while the smaller one costs 30,800 euros.
